Immunizations

Tarrant County Public Health provides immunizations at all of our Public Health Centers. Most Public Health Centers are open from 8:00-5:00, Monday-Friday, however, immunization service hours are specifically listed below.

Appointments are not required for immunizations as they are given on a walk-in basis during the times listed for immunization hours. However, if capacity is reached at an earlier time, the immunization registrations will stop for that time period. This will allow those who are already registered for immunizations to be served before closing.

Immunization fees for children under 19 years are $14.00 for one immunization and $20.00 for 2 or more immunizations. Medicaid and CHIP are accepted for children's immunizations.

Fees for persons 19 and older vary according to the immunization. You may call the Public Health Center for those fees as well as other questions you may have.

Occasionally, it is necessary for the Public Health Centers to be closed during regular business hours for vaccine inventory or training. When this occurs a sign will be posted prior to the closure showing the date and time of the scheduled closure. Please contact 817-321-5311 if you have any questions or concerns.

State Vaccine Requirements for Schools and Child-Care Facilities

Immunization records

To request immunization records for yourself or your child, contact any of our Public Health Center locations, or call our Vaccine Distribution Center: 817-321-5450. There is a $5 charge per immunization record.

As part of our ongoing effort to safeguard the community’s health, Tarrant County Public Health maintains the Tarrant County Immunization Registry (TCIR). The TCIR is an automated system designed to track immunizations and interface with ImmTrac (the State of Texas Registry). ImmTrac is part of a National Immunization Program established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which also set out several guidelines for the storing and processing of immunization data.

The TCIR system is also designed to:

Recommend the proper vaccines and doses for a child of any age and immunization history.
Evaluate the vaccines to be given and warn about any possible mistakes.
Produce reports of children who are past due for one or more immunizations. This feature is also designed to interface with a voice response system to contact the families of these children.
Produce standardized and ad hoc statistical reports as needed.
Allow for changes to schedules by public health staff as needed.
