Health Data & Information

The Tarrant County Public Health Department Health Intelligence Center coordinates the consistent analysis and dissemination of health related data generated both within TCPHD and using outside sources. The goal is to provide to the community health intelligence, i.e. usable and relevant information for monitoring health conditions and for planning and evaluating health services.

The Health Intelligence Center coordinates the consistent analysis and dissemination of health related data in a user-friendly format. All requests for health-related data and publications should be made through the HIC using the HIC Health Data Request Form.

What is the Health Intelligence Center?

The Health Intelligence Center is a part of the Epidemiology and Health Information Division of Tarrant County Health Department which coordinates the consistent analysis and dissemination of health related data generated within the Health Department while providing services to the community as well as data from outside sources. Examples include data on reportable disease and conditions, mortality data, infant mortality data, HIV / AIDS, teen pregnancy and maternal and child health.

What are the functions of the Health Intelligence Center?

The HIC is responsible for coordinating the storage, analysis and dissemination of health related data in a format that is usable for:

  • Monitoring community health status
  • Planning health services and programs
  • Conducting relevant research in the community

What can the Health Intelligence Center do for you?

  • Mortality from 1998 – 2001 at subcounty level
  • Reportable disease data at the county and subcounty level
  • Behavioral risk factor related data at the county level, 1998 – 2000, 1998 data at the subcounty level
  • Intentional and unintentional injury data, 1998 – 2001
  • Maternal and child health data, 1998 – 2000
  • Work-related deaths, 1998 – 2000
  • Demographic profile at the county and subcounty level
  • Teen Pregnancy Information at the county and subcounty level
  • Expert consultation in public health data analysis and data usage

What expertise do we have available?

We employ a professional staff of trained Biostatisticians and Epidemiologists.

In what format do we have our data products?

  • Paper Reports – Eye On Epi, AIDS Perspectives, Reportable Diseases and conditions, Mortality Report, Infant Mortality Report etc.
  • Wall Posters – HIV/AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Smallpox, Infant Mortality, BRFSS, Diabetes and Suicide
  • Health Intelligence Center PDFs

What is coming very soon?

The Tarrant County Monitoring and Assessment Project is tracking and monitoring Tarrant County community health status. A report card will be produced which will contain sub-county level health indicators that will be compared with Healthy People 2010 objectives. The report care will contain a community profile and 5 health domains:

  • Community profile
  • Demographic
  • Social
  • Economic
  • Education
  • Maternal and Child health
  • Infectious disease
  • Chronic diseases
  • Environmental health
  • Social and mental health
